Our coalition is made up of organizations that believe that we have the ability to provide the resources and solutions to the immediate, short-term, and long-term challenges facing the music education workforce, especially when we all work together. These partners have and will continue to work tirelessly to build the resources and supports necessary to ensure the next generation of students can be taught by outstanding music educators.

We help the world experience the joy of making music. American Choral Directors Association

As the leading voice and ally of choral music in the United States, the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) is dedicated to serving teachers and directors of choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy. With chapters in every state in the U.S., over 500,000 choral participants are impacted by the work of ACDA every year.

AOSA advocates for a teaching approach that combines music, movement, speech, and drama as outlined through the works and teaching of Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman. In support of this approach to music and movement education, we provide teachers with the tools and community they need to create engaging, inclusive learning experiences for their students.

American String Teachers Association

The American String Teachers Association exists to support string and orchestra teachers and players. Our members range from budding student teachers to artist-status performers. We provide teaching resources, professional education, local and national events, a career center, insurance programs, and access to a vibrant and collaborative strings community.

California Music Educators Association

The California Music Educators Association (CMEA) is a Federated unit of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). The purposes of the association are: to promote access to a sequential standards-based music education for all Pre K through Grade 12 students taught by fully qualified music educators; to support new and improve existing music programs; to promote quality pre-service and in-service teacher preparation programs; and to create a greater awareness of the value of music education through partnerships with other associations and advocacy among state and local agencies.

CMA Foundation

The CMA Foundation transforms lives by investing in music education programs across the United States. We began in 2006 with passionate artists and industry professionals who first fell in love with music within the four walls of a classroom. Thanks to the teachers who believed in them, they were able to go after their dreams. For us, it’s not just about raising up the next generation of musicians, but leveraging the impact that music has on students.

College Band Directors National Association

The members of the College Band Directors National Association are devoted to the teaching, performance, study, and cultivation of music, with particular focus on the wind band medium. CBDNA is an inclusive organization whose members are engaged in continuous dialogue encompassing myriad philosophies and professional practices. CBDNA is committed to serving as a dynamic hub connecting individuals to communities, ideas, and resources.

Education Through Music

Education Through Music (ETM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing high-quality music education to underserved students in New York City. Through its programs, ETM positively impacts student motivation, achievement, and self-confidence by integrating music education into the core curriculum of under-resourced schools. Since its founding in 1991, ETM has provided over 8 million hours of music instruction, reaching over 20,000 children weekly.

El Sistema USA is committed to equity and excellence in music education. Florida Music Education Association

Florida Music Education Association serves and supports the advancement of music education across Florida. FMEA promotes and publishes the Florida Music Director and music education research, organizes in-person and online professional development programs for music teachers and students, offers college scholarships for music students majoring in music education, broadens teachers’ knowledge and interest in their profession through affiliation with colleagues, and more.

Iowa High School Music Association

The Iowa High School Music Association’s mission is to foster and perpetuate music as an art form and an essential component of the secondary school curriculum; to organize and regulate festivals that assure fairness and equity and also stimulate students to their greatest possible potential; to establish criteria and standards for musical performances that insures the musical/educational integrity of Iowa high school music programs; to encourage member participation in Association-sponsored events, assuring all participants of a nonbiased evaluation of their performances; to develop programs that bring due recognition to outstanding musicians and performances; and to provide musical opportunities that will enrich the lives of high school students and aid in the development of a life-long appreciation of music.

National Association for Music Education

The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) is a collaborative community that supports music educators and advocates for equitable access to music education. The only association that addresses all aspects of music education, NAfME, together with its affiliated state music education associations, advocates at the national, state, and local levels and provides resources and opportunities for teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Founded in 1907 and representing more than 57,000 members teaching millions of students, NAfME advances the music education profession and promotes lifelong experiences in music.

National Association of Schools of Music

Founded in 1924, the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 608 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines, and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other music-related endeavors.

NFHS

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) is the national leader and advocate for high school athletics as well as fine and performing arts programs. Within our 51 member state associations (including Washington, D.C.), we serve 19,500 high schools and more than 12 million young people.

Oklahoma Youth Orchestras fosters creativity, teamwork, and leadership through a strong commitment to excellence in music, providing exceptional orchestral experiences for young musicians across central Oklahoma.

Outside the Bachs

Outside the Bachs helps private music instructors develop essential business skills and grow their independent studios. We provide tools and training in marketing, operations, and sales to support creative expression and long-term professional growth.

Save The Music Foundation

Save The Music Foundation (STM) is dedicated to helping students, schools, and communities reach their full potential through the power of making music. STM works to address systemic inequities in music education by investing in culturally rich American communities – supporting music teachers and donating musical instruments, equipment, and technology to public schools. To date, the organization has donated over $75 million worth of instruments, equipment, and technology to over 2,800 schools, impacting the lives of millions of students nationwide.

Society for Research in Music Education

Founded in 1960, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Society for Research in Music Education (SRME) is composed of NAfME members who have interest in all aspects of research in music education. SRME seeks to encourage and improve the quality of scholarship and research within the music education profession. The Executive Committee of SRME oversees two research journals: Journal of Research in Music Education (JRME) and Update: Applications of Research in Music Education.

Spring ISD

The Spring Independent School District serves 34,000 prekindergarten through 12th-grade students in a diverse district located 20 miles north of central Houston. Guided by its strategic plan, the district is preparing students for success in college, career, and life.

Texas Fine Arts Administrators

TFAA is an organization dedicated to empowering leaders in the Fine Arts educational community. We provide conferences, workshops, trainings, and resources for Fine Arts administrators. Our goal is to help Fine Arts educational leaders thrive by providing a space where they can grow, collaborate, and support one another.

The Music Man Foundation

The Music Man Foundation is named after the Tony winning musical written by Meredith Willson. Meredith’s widow, Rosemary, started the Foundation in 1998 as the Meredith and Rosemary Willson Charitable Foundation and substantially increased the Foundation’s endowment upon her death in 2010. With a mission to support programs that use music to improve children’s lives, the Foundation currently focuses its investments in two initiative areas: core-curriculum music education and music therapy.

TI:ME – Technology in Music Education

Each Year TI:ME produces over 6000 hours of professional development sessions for music educators integrating technology.
